1. Introduction

Welcome to DesignQA! Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the DesignQA Chrome extension and web services.

By using DesignQA, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: When you log in via Google, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture for authentication.
  • Bug Reports: When you report issues, we collect screenshots, styling properties of selected web elements, and Figma design references you attach.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: We collect analytics on how the extension and web app are used to improve the product.
  • Device & Browser Information: We collect your browser type, operating system, and extension version for troubleshooting.
  • Analytics Data: We use PostHog to understand how users interact with our product, including events such as feature usage, clicks, and session flow. PostHog may collect device identifiers, approximate location, and technical details of your session.

2.3 Information from Third-Party Integrations

  • Figma Authentication: If you connect your Figma account, we access API data to retrieve design elements for comparison.
  • Google Authentication: We use Google Sign-In for authentication but do not access your Google Drive, emails, or other personal data beyond login credentials.
  • Linear Integration: If you connect your Linear account, we may access issue data, project details, and related metadata you choose to link with DesignQA in order to create and sync bug reports. We do not access other data in your Linear account beyond what you explicitly authorize.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Authenticate users and manage accounts.
  • Provide and improve DesignQA’s functionality.
  • Store and display bug reports for users and their teams.
  • Compare styling properties between web pages and Figma designs.
  • Enhance product features based on analytics and user behavior.
  • Monitor performance, diagnose issues, and ensure security.

4. Data Storage and Security

We take security seriously. DesignQA uses Supabase to store user authentication data, bug reports, and related files. We implement industry-standard security measures, including:

  • Encrypted storage of authentication data.
  • Secure API communication via HTTPS.
  • Access control mechanisms to prevent unauthorized access.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. However, we may share data in the following situations:

  • With Your Team Members: If you are part of a team, your bug reports may be visible to other team members unless set to private.
  • With Service Providers: We use Supabase for authentication and storage, PostHog for analytics, and Linear for issue tracking and project management integrations. These providers are required to protect your data and may process limited personal information on our behalf.
  • For Legal Compliance: If required by law, we may disclose necessary information to comply with legal requests or protect our rights.

6. Cookies & Tracking

DesignQA does not use advertising cookies. However:

  • Our web app may store authentication tokens in local storage for login persistence.
  • PostHog may set cookies or local storage values to measure usage and improve our services.

7. Your Rights & Choices

  • Access & Download: Request a copy of your stored data.
  • Delete Your Account: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Opt-Out of Analytics: Contact us to opt out of non-essential usage tracking.

To exercise these rights, please contact us at [email protected].

8. Data Retention

We retain user data as long as necessary for the functionality of DesignQA. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is legally required.
